Beyond the safety of comfort, and the edge of a boundary drawn long before, there is something new. It rests on ground unmarked and hides in places untouched. It waits for you. It resists you until you are ready. It hides behind a door you have walked by many times, and never noticed. It sidles up and from time to time nudges you gently to remind you it is still there, waiting.
You feel glimmers of it, like you are on the edge of something profound. You try to grasp it but the minute you reach out, it slips away. It is unassumingly elusive.
The more you chase it, the further from reach it actually is.
And this new state of being, this inner peacefulness and calm clarity – it cannot be held, or controlled, and it cannot be owned. It does not belong to you. You belong to it. And it is not until you surrender to it entirely, that you can experience it fully. It is only when you give yourself to it that the door will open and you will get to see inside. You must let go and then, you will become.
For the truth is ~ the less you hold, the more you have.
If fear chases you at night and sends your mind racing, you need not race with it. Step back and watch it, watch your mind running away with all the silly worries and concerns, the battles it wants to fight and the games it starts to play. Laugh at it. Let it run, but tell it you won’t be running with it.
It’s fear that wants us to grasp tightly to things. It’s fear that tells us comfort is the safe place. It’s fear that doesn’t want us to change.
Find comfort in the uncomfortable. Find peace in the chaos. Let the new quietly sneak in and change the things that need to be changed. Let go.
