Maktub: it is written.

He who does not understand your silence, will probably not understand your words.

~ Elbert Hubbard

Maybe your life is like a book that is already written. Your thoughts determine the dialogue. Your perspective determines the tone and focus. And your story interweaves with the stories of others, binding everything with a beautiful big invisible web.

Perhaps our biggest, bravest moments are lived in silence, even when there is noise. Perhaps we confuse wisdom with thoughts, and the words attached to those thoughts. Maybe real wisdom is silent and found in a feeling, an instinct, or our intuition. Maybe the things we are seeking are the very things we must give ourselves, and instead of looking externally we must look within. And when we are brave enough to do so, and we give up trying to control things on the outside, we find things naturally find perfect harmony – equilibrium – and suddenly we have more than we ever dreamed possible.

And by filling ourselves up we are not turning our back on love. Oh no, it is quite the opposite. Real love lives in those spaces in between. Love lives in the authenticity of your smile, your eyes, and your touch. And only you can know whether that authenticity is real… or not. Love is not afraid. Love lives in the web that binds my story to yours, and your story to that of another. Love is not a destination. Nor is it something to be sought. Love is already here.

And if you are ready to realise this, and you are able to sit with yourself and work through your challenges, then eventually a new door opens. It is the door to the present moment. And once you enter through it, you can’t go back. Fear and judgement fall away and are replaced with kindness, and warmth. And suddenly you find that all you give, is reflected back to you…

Do not force something that is not meant to be. Let the journey unfold – freely. Let love fill the spaces in between. Make friends with the silence, and then you may find words hold new meaning. If it is meant to be, it will be. Trust.
