If your soul is unwell, do you think that maybe you should find its medicine?
And if your heart is breaking, do you think that maybe you should make some time to unbreak it?
And if your mind, it keeps fast-forwarding and then rewinding, do you think that maybe you should take some lessons in how to stop analysing?
We might be happy taking medicine when we are sick, but we aren’t so quick, when it comes to matters of a different kind… our soul, our heart, and our mind.
See, the more you hold on to all the suffering… to all the little bits of pain that are gathering… the more you are ignoring the things that are really mattering.
And you tell yourself lies, like you couldn’t have it if you tried. You’ve already stopped living your life. You’ve already stopped smiling. A long time ago, you stopped trying…
You show up for work, and you pretend it doesn’t hurt, but as the days start to compound, you pay a bigger price than all that money you carry around.
So you put your money in the bank, and insure a life you hate to live, and you tell yourself that’s what living is… and you give, and give… and give.
But your heart is quietly breaking, and your soul is numbly aching, and your mind is continually contemplating – other things…
So if your soul was unwell, would you medicate it?
Would you think to sit and appreciate it?
Would you try set it free? Unshackle it? Live out its fantasy?
Would you maybe dance with it? Speak the words it begs to hear? Would you start to give to it before you expected it to make things clear?
And if your heart was quietly breaking, would you think to ask it why?
Would you try to consciously connect with it? Show it kindness without asking for a reply?
Would you be patient with it? And not be jaded by its lack of knowing? Would you dare to ask it what love is and if it’s coming, or going?
And if your mind made a spinning sound, with the same old stories going round and round, would you think to detach from it? Or to just press pause for a bit?
Don’t just medicate your body… treat your mind, your heart and soul. Start to rework yourself until it becomes a little clearer, and once again you start to feel whole.
Then you’ll find you have real love to give, you’ll have passion for this life you live, and a smile that lights you up, from the inside, out… it will carry you all the way home.
